Our Adaptive Classes are designed specifically for individuals with special needs. Class size is limited to small groups of athletes allowing us to focus on each athlete’s individual needs to assure they get the adequate support to be successful. Because consistency is often key for our athletes, our classes are designed to follow a consistent format that becomes familiar over time.
Exercises are selected to strengthen the athletes’ functional fitness level. Functional fitness exercises help prepare you for real-life movements such as walking up stairs, carrying heavy objects like grocery bags, and many other daily living skills. We meet each athlete at their current fitness level and work towards steady progress. All while being coached with positive reinforcement and lots of behavior-specific praise for each exercise completed. We strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment for our athletes.
Our classes include a social component that makes it more than just a fitness class. We take advantage of our small groups to incorporate social skills like turn taking, partnering with another athlete and general communication with each other. Many athletes enjoy the group conversations and friendships made during our classes. Each class wraps up with a fun group activity, ensuring that everyone has a successful end to class.
